Tyson Fury rushed to hospital for surgery on two horrific cuts with dad John fearing for his career – The Sun

TYSON FURY was rushed to hospital for surgery after suffering two horrific cuts in his victory over Otto Wallin as his dad fears for his career.

The Gypsy King, 31, was hurt badly by a left hook which caught him flush above the right eye.

He managed to battle on for the full 12 rounds and earned a unanimous points decision.

But Fury did not hold a press conference and instead was taken straight to hospital to get his eye patched up, with suggestions he may need plastic surgery to fix him up.

He has a two-inch gash on the eyebrow and a slit on his eyelid and will need to allow them to fully heal before he steps back in the ring for sparring.

It surely rules out a warm-up fight for Fury in December as he looks towards his rematch with Deontay Wilder in February.

But dad John Fury is worried about the long-term impact of the cuts.

The former pro said: "I knew there was a problem after the first round, there was no snap in his punches.

"It was a very untidy affair.

An injury like that could finish his career, he might need surgery on that. I am worried about that cut.

"How does a man like limited Otto Wallin get that close to a 6ft 9in man with a brilliant jab?

"It all went out the window, he got cut and threw caution to the wind. His chin was in the air, his feet were flat, there was nothing good about it at all.

"An injury like that could finish his career, he might need surgery on that. I am worried about that cut."

Fury Snr was also scathing in his assessment of Ben Davison and demanded his son sacks the trainer.

He added: " “I don't know how he has taken the cut in the third and made it to the 12th.

“It has gone terribly wrong in the camp and someone is to blame. Tyson never landed a meaningful punch.

“If Tyson had been in front of one of the top-three or Alexander Povetkin, he would not have won.

“I am a straight talker and that is the worst I have ever seen him. I have half an idea what went wrong but I cannot share it. He has done an eight-week camp but his strength and power have gone.

“He was as weak as a kitten. His body looked a lot softer tonight. He is not an 18st fighter, he wants to be body beautiful.

“I have seen this coming. I saw this coming. If he keeps hold of that team, that whole team, they will cost him his career. Ben Davidson and everyone.

“The cutman is the only one who can take any credit. it was like a shark's mouth."
