Van Gerwen warns Gerwyn Price is making mistake thats "not good for your body"
Michael van Gerwen has warned Gerwyn Price he’s making a huge mistake by stepping into the boxing ring.
Price is suffering from a hand injury that has coincided with his training for a charity boxing match. The Iceman was subsequently forced to pull out of week five of the Premier League – a night which Van Gerwen went on to win.
Price is back on stage now but is risking further damage by continuing his boxing training. Three-time world champion Van Gerwen said: “I don’t think boxing is good for your body, I think you can get injured. I think it’s not the best decision to make in your life but Gerwyn is Gerwyn. He always does things differently so that’s his own thing. I don’t think he’s going to do the fight now with his hand. I’d be surprised. It’s something he likes to do and good luck.”
Asked whether he would ever consider stepping into the ring himself, MVG quipped: “No! What do I look like? A boxer or a dart player?" Van Gerwen is still reeling from his 6-4 defeat to Price in the first round of last week's Premier League, but the Dutchman places the burden of blame on himself.
“I think it was not necessary to lose that game, I lost focus,” Van Gerwen said. “Things like that unfortunately happen in darts. The Premier League is too long to not make any mistakes, you need to pick your evenings and make sure you do the right things at the right moments in games.”

Out to set the record straight this week, the Premier League arrives in Rotterdam with Mighty Mike set to play under the pressure of his home crowd. “It’s not only nerves but it’s the adrenaline going through your body because you want to perform and do well," he said.
“I always put pressure on myself and I always want to keep it going, winning Premier League nights and winning tournaments, that will never stop, but all that brings extra pressure.”
