ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC clashed heads and rowed furiously with fellow ex-Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku before seeing red in a fiery Milan derby.

The pair's confrontation spilled over into the tunnel – after Swedish legend Ibrahimovic's brilliant strike had separated the San Siro clubs in this Coppa Italia quarter-final tie.

Lukaku reacted to what seemed s gentle shove from Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli.

Ibrahimovic then put his head straight down into the face of Lukaku, who stood his ground in an astonishing exchange..

Both players were booked – with Ibrahimovic perhaps lucky not to be dismissed.

It meant Lukaku would miss the semi-finals if Inter reached them.

And it highlighted the fiercely-competitive nature of this contest between the Serie A's top two sides.

Ibrahimovic, though, failed to last the hour mark as he was sent off for a clumsy foul in a harmless position in the middle of the pitch.

And the twists and turns continued as Lukaku levelled with a penalty – that was only given on VAR after play had continued.

Leao brought down Nico Barella but the referee only had a look at the replay monitor after the ball went out of play.
