The women were back on the show today and brought the glamour that BBC Breakfast viewers have come to expect.

Carol was doing a segment on the snowfall across parts of the UK following Tuesday night's Arctic blast when her colleague Nina Warhurst followed up with a couple of questions.

She said: "So it looks beautiful, but as you say, Carol, it's important to be careful."

It was then that Carol suffered a technical failure and her earpiece stopped working so she could no longer hear Nina and her co-host Jon Kay in the studio.

Holding her hand up to ear in a failed attempt to hear the live audio, Carol said: "I'm so sorry, I can't hear you. I can see you are talking."

Nina tried to move past the blunder saying, “Oh that's alright,"  but Jon made a joke about selective hearing, and said: "I might get one of those as well."

Nina replied: "I thought you always have one on this side of your head when I am talking to you."

Carol was then out of vision and off screen where Jon continued his joke, he said: "Carol's gone, she's gone, She's got no idea. We can just say what we like.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
