BBC Pooch Perfect fans divided over Sheridan Smith’s ‘Bake Off For Dogs’
BBC Pooch Perfect kicked off on the BBC tonight with Sheridan Smith at the hosting helm.
The feel-good dog programme, which viewers described as "Bake Off For Dogs", provided light relief for some of those watching at home, but others weren't as impressed.
One viewer remarked: "Bake Off for Dogs not convinced."
While another continued: "I don’t usually comment on how bad a TV show is but my god. This is bad. It’s not even hiding how much it wants to be Bake off #poochperfect"
A third added: "Currently sat watching what can only be described as Bake Off for Dog Groomers??? We pay license fee for this s*** BBC??? Other half wants a dog, this is not working! #poochperfect."
However, others thought the quirky show was just the tonic in these uncertain times.
"After a few days of s*** news, #poochperfect on bbc1 is the perfect antidote PoodleWoman in lotus position it's bake off with dogs and I'm in love," said one impressed viewer.
Another tweeted: "Who ever thought up the bake off of dog grooming. Bravo and thank you."
And Gogglebox star Kate Bottley added: "Oh my it’s Drag Race/Bake off for Dogs!!! This is perfect! How do I get a gig as a guest judge? #poochperfect
"@Sheridansmith1 I’m watching on catch up, I’m 5 minutes in and I’ve screamed 5 times @BBCOne."
A third gushed: "Who ever thought up the bake off of dog grooming. Bravo and thank you."
On tonight's show, expert dog groomers Kelly, Cara, Thomas and Abby went head-to-head in the canine makeover stakes, as they had to transform various pooches.
Kelly and Cara sailed through to the quarter final after impressing the judges with their attempts, but Thomas and Abby who suffered grooming mishaps found themselves being sent home.
Sheridan burst into tears as she waved goodbye to the evicted contestants.
Pooch Perfect airs on BBC1 at 8pm on Thursdays
