BGT judges Amanda Holden and David Walliams clash heads over their famous exes
There was tension in the air during the first night of filming Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions – but it wasn’t down to any risky performances.
Judges Amanda Holden and David Walliams blasted each other over their famous exes while filming, according to The Sun.
Funnyman David, 47, kicked things off by reportedly making a joke about Amanda’s ex-husband, TV presenter and comic Les Dennis.
When a magic act referred to men “coming back from the past”, the Little Britain star apparently said: “You have one Amanda. He’s called Les Dennis.”
Even though the snide remark got the crowd laughing, 48-year-old Amanda didn’t take the comment lightly.
She hit back: “Do you have an ex-wife David? We are never allowed to talk about Lara Stone are we?”
A source reportedly told the publication: “David makes the same joke every year. Amanda was furious and felt it was time the tables were turned.
They went on: ”David did apologise and they hugged it out in the end.”
The war of words went down in London’s Wembley Arena, where they were filming the BGT spin-off show along with fellow judges Simon Cowell and Alesha Dixon.
Les and Amanda tied the knot back in 1995, but sadly the marriage didn’t last, and they finalised their divorce in 2003.
After getting engaged in Los Angeles, Brit model Lara married David in 2010 in an intimate ceremony in London’s Claridge’s hotel.
Their son, Alfred, was born in 2013, but just two years later the couple decided to part ways and formally “dissolve” their marriage.
Throughout that time, comic David has been a regular fixture on the BGT panel, never afraid to chip in with a controversial joke or comment.
Filming for the spin-off competition, which sees icons of the last 12 years of the ITV show reunite, wraps on Sunday.
Fingers crossed he has no more onscreen spats with his co-star Amanda – that said, it might make for good telly.
