Sheldon Cooper (played by Jim Parsons) and Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) had one of the sweetest romances over The Big Bang Theory’s 12-season run on CBS. Initially brought together by Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) as an online dating experiment, the pair’s quirky and unique personalities made them the perfect match and the rest is history. Sheldon and Amy fell in love and went on to tie the knot before the show ended in 2019. However, it still took years for Sheldon to take the drastic step in their romance – letting Amy into his bedroom.
In season eight, episode eight, titled The Prom Equivalency, Sheldon and Amy are preparing to relive their high-school years with their pals by holding their very own prom night.
However, Sheldon becomes overwhelmed with emotions when he sees how stunning Amy looks, prompting him to drop a bombshell.
Sheldon runs off and locks himself in his room, leaving Amy dumbfounded by her boyfriend’s reaction while their pals enjoy their special evening.
When Amy manages to get Sheldon to open up, he admits he’s in love with her.
“You said it,” an open-mouthed Amy tells Sheldon, prompting him to reply: “There’s no denying I have feelings for you that can’t be explained in any other way.
“I briefly considered that I had a brain parasite, but that seems even more farfetched.”
It was Amy’s turn to become overwhelmed with her feelings as she begins to have a panic attack after hearing Sheldon’s revelation.
Amy runs into Sheldon’s room to sit down and regain her composure – but this doesn’t sit well with Sheldon.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” he snaps at her. “Just because I love you doesn’t mean girls are allowed in my room.”
A puzzled Amy looks at her boyfriend before he clicks his fingers and orders her out the room.
So where does the plot hole lie? Well, if fans cast their minds back to season three, it seems Sheldon would let a relative stranger stay in his bed.
In the 12th episode of the season, Sheldon helps Raj try and find a girlfriend – and the two succeed as they meet with Abby (Danica McKellar) and Martha (Jen Drohan).

Acting as Raj’s wingman, Sheldon manages to catch the eye of Martha as she shares his same interests when it comes to comics.
Martha warms to Sheldon thanks to his limited edition Green Lantern lantern and his giant Hulk hands.
However, Sheldon’s unable to pick up on Martha’s flirtatious ways and sees her merely as an acquaintance to talk to while Raj makes out with Abby.
So when Martha and Abby come to Sheldon’s apartment and he heads to bed early alone, his admirer soon follows so they can leave Raj and Abby to it.
When Martha arrives at Sheldon’s bedroom door, he lets her in no questions asked and he instead says he’ll go and stay in roommate Leonard’s (Johnny Galecki) room.
So now not only is a girl being allowed into Sheldon’s bedroom, but she’s going to sleep in there unattended while Sheldon goes elsewhere.
Surely there’s no way Sheldon would’ve let Martha into his bedroom in the first place, let alone to sleep, given his attitude towards Amy.
And considering he did let Martha sleep in there on her own, why would he have such a problem with letting Amy in to calm herself after a panic attack?
