Call The Midwife has been given the green light for a further two series on BBC One. The show is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and continues to be one of Britain’s most watched drama series since it launched in 2012. has everything you need to know about season 12 including the release date, cast, trailer, plot and more.

When is Call The Midwife season 12 out?

Fans of the show will be treated to new Call The Midwife episodes very soon, as season 10 is due to launch on Sunday April 18.

The 11th series is also on the horizon and is about to commence filming.

Sadly, as news of the commissions has only just come to light, it’s unknown exactly when season 12 or 13 will be released.

However, the BBC have revealed Call The Midwife is currently set to be on air until 2024.

Who will be in the cast of Call The Midwife season 12?

The official cast list is yet to be confirmed, but Heidi Thomas, creator, writer and executive producer of the show, has hinted viewers will be seeing regular cast members along with some newbies.

She says: “We have a proud past but an even more exciting future – full of old favourites, fresh faces, higher hemlines, new ideas.”

The current cast includes: Jenny Agutter (Sister Julienne), Judy Parfitt (Sister Monica Joan), Linda Bassett (Nurse Cane), Fenella Woolgar (Sister Hilda), Stephen McGann (Dr. Turner, Cliff Parisi (Fred) and many more.

Is there a trailer for Call The Midwife season 12?

As commissioning of the new season has only just been announced, there is no trailer for season 12 at this moment in time.

The BBC is likely to drop a trailer a few weeks before the new season is due to air, so fans still have a while to wait.

In the meantime, viewers will be treated to brand new episodes from season 10 which launches on Sunday April 18.

What will happen in Call The Midwife season 12?

The team behind Call The Midwife have teased the upcoming seasons will be packed with lots more drama and baby arrivals!

Executive Producer for Neal Street Productions, Pippa Harris, says: “We are all delighted by this vote of confidence from the BBC, and are looking forward to delivering more laughter, tears and babies for our loyal fans.”

Speaking about future plot lines, Heidi Thomas says: “The stories we tell are like babies – they never stop coming, we love them all, and we vow to do our best by every single one.”

It’s far too early to suggest what exactly may happen in season 12, so fans will have to keep an eye on series 10 and 11 for hints.

Alongside the announcement of seasons 12 and 13, the BBC also revealed they’ve commissioned another two Christmas specials.

Fans have already expressed their excitement for season 10 and it seems they will have a lot more to look forward to in the future.

Call The Midwife season 10 begins on Sunday April 18 at 8pm on BBC One.
