Channel 5 axes legendary TV show after 19 years on screens – and drop first look at series replacing it | The Sun

CHANNEL 5 has axed a legendary TV show after 19 years on screen as they dropped a first look at the new series replacing it.

The broadcaster has culled beloved tech series The Gadget Show from its schedules.

The series, which first launched back in 2004, saw a number of presenters try out the latest tech.

However, after 19 years on screens Channel 5 has dropped the format.

Instead it's been replaced by a brand new show, titled Shop Smart, Save Money.

Angellica Bell has joined the new show alongside previous Gadget Show hosts Ortis Deley, Georgie Barrat and Jon Bentley.

The show kicks off on Friday, September 29 at 7pm.

Earlier this year Channel 5 gave The Gadget Show a brand new name – The Good Gadget Guide: Shop Smart, Save Money.

"We understand that change can sometimes be met with mixed reactions, and we appreciate the feedback we have received from our viewers.

"The decision to transition to The Good Gadget Guide: Shop Smart, Save Money was made to appeal to the broadest possible audience while providing valuable insights and recommendations in the realm of technology.

"Our goal is to strike a balance that appeals to a diverse audience while staying true to our commitment of providing valuable and engaging content in the world of technology."

They added that fans could still enjoy the older format by watching classic episodes dating back to 2004 on their YouTube channel.
