The Loose Women host reflected on her time in the jungle after being voted out off I’m A Celebrity first. Speaking about what life is like in the camp, Charlene explained she became good friends with Sue Cleaver and the Coronation Street star was often by her side when preparing meals for the celebrities.
Charlene said of life in camp: “There is an element of relief to be out yeah.
“But I loved being in there. And I really, genuinely, am gutted to be out because we got into a rhythm.
“And I felt like we were a camp who were very honest with each other.
“And I felt that we were a camp that if we ever had issues with how something was done, then we’d be honest with each other about it.
“We kind of focused on getting through camp and getting through the experience and we were always very much there for each other.”
The journalist went on to speak highly of Sue: “There wasn’t a meal that was cooked by us without Sue.”
However, she explained the actress was struggling with pain in her legs.
“Sue couldn’t physically do the cooking because it was hurting her knees to bend over,” Charlene disclosed.
“It was hurting her back to bend over.
“So we very early on made the decision that I would physically do the cooking and she would advise.
“There were vegetables I had never heard of and meats I didn’t even know could be meats!”
Now she’s out of the jungle, Charlene explained how excited she is to reunite with her family.
“I think they were in bed when I came out,” she said, speaking at a plush Gold Coast hotel.
“I think them seeing me will make them miss me even more.
“So I’ll wait until I pick Alfie up from school next week. And then that’ll be fine.
“I drew a chart and he is still crossing off all the squares for the days that I’m away and he’ll be able to see that he’s almost at the square that I put a star in which means that I will be home that day.
“I am desperate for hugs from both of them and desperate for a hug from Andy.”
Following Charlene’s exit from the jungle, it’s now a two-horse race for the I’m A Celebrity crown.
The bookies now have Jill Scott at 5/4 in the betting to be crowned Queen of the Jungle, with Owen Warner just behind at 13/8 – while every other name is currently 7/1 or bigger.
Elsewhere, Charlene’s camp pal Sue is odds-on to be sent packing next at 2/5.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs on ITV at 9pm.
