I’m A Celebrity winner Danny Miller made a subtle dig at his former Emmerdale bosses after he confessed he joined the ITV reality show so that he was “financially” stable for his son.
After the soap star joined Ant and Dec in the King’s chambers for his final interview, the actor confessed that despite his impressive 13-year-long acting career in the Dales, he didn’t feel wealthy enough to support his growing family.
The 30-year-old welcomed his first child less than one month ago with his fiancée Steph Jones, just weeks before he was due to go on the popular TV show.
The new parents named their son Albert after they fell in love with the name, which also shared an emotional link to Steph’s grandfather.
At three weeks old, Danny stepped foot into Gwrych Castle and dominated the gruelling show throughout his month-long stay.
While he caught up with the Geordie double act, he confessed how winning the show would set him and his family up for life.
As Ant welcomed him onto the show, Dec asked him about how life has been for him in the camp after he welcomed his son a matter of weeks ago.
He asked: "For you the homesickness as well must have been particularly intense because you went in there and left your three-week-old son, your first son, Albert.
"You must have missed him like crazy," he added.
The TV hunk responded bluntly how he came on the show for a reason and was proud that he had been able to achieve that.
Danny explained: "I did year but I mean the whole reason was that [I joined the show] and I've made no mistake or secret about it was that I wanted to be able to give him it [the money] and set him up for a good future and I wasn’t financially set for that.
"This is an opportunity to do that and I wanted to showcase that and set me and my family up and I feel like I've done it and I'm proud of myself so I hope my family are proud as well. "
It was only a matter of moments later that the doting dad was crowned the first King of the Castle as he sat on the thrown with a beautiful flower crown and impressive gold staff.
