Fans of the BBC soap were left shocked when it was revealed in the New Year that the 12-year-old was pregnant. Her mum Stacey Slater (played by Lacey Turner) was heartbroken and desperately tried to get Lily (Lillia Turner) to divulge details about the father and what had happened to her. During Monday’s instalment, social services were keen to investigate the pregnancy and fans predicted Lily could be taken away.

Monday saw a frustrated Lily running away from home as her family tried to make sense of what was going on.

Martin Fowler (James Bye) finally found out his stepdaughter was pregnant and was initially furious that he had been kept out of the loop.

Last week, Lily told Stacey that Ricky Mitchell Jnr (Frankie Day) was the father, but she made Stacey promise not to tell anyone until she was ready.

Keeping her word, Stacey hasn’t told a soul, even when social services were pushing her for a name.

During Monday’s instalment, her loyalty was put to the test once again.

“I’m not withholding information,” Stacey argued as she talked to social service workers.

“So you didn’t call a family meeting to tell them all about the baby?” One asked.

“Well, how’s that withholding information?” Stacey fumed. “I just let them all know before you lot started firing questions at them.”

Unfortunately for the protective mother, Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) had informed them that Stacey knew who the father was but was keeping it a secret.

As the authorities tried to address this with her, Stacey remarked: “I’m not telling you because Lily doesn’t want him to know and I promised her I wouldn’t say anything.”

The services then began to question Lily’s safety in her home as Stacey passionately advocated for her daughter’s wellbeing.

“It might not be safe for Lily to stay here and we might have no choice but to take her into police protection,” one remarked.

The episode ended as Stacey shouted: “This is a safe space, and you ain’t taking my daughter!”

Fans soon took to social media to predict that Stacey’s protective instincts could see Lily “taken away.”

Twitter user @ILoveSukiFromEE wrote: “They’re seriously taking Lily away. #EastEnders.”

@chiavarichairs_ added: “Lily needs to accept that this is going to come out.

“If it’s between people knowing it’s Ricky and being taken away from her family then surely the first option is better? The more honest she is about Ricky the quicker the authorities might go away #Eastenders.”

@Bobbie_robron penned: “Lily may be taken away since Stacey won’t reveal who the dad is? What a mess. #EastEnders.”

“Okay Stacey HAS to tell them it’s Ricky in tomorrow’s episode, otherwise Lily is going to be taken away. Don’t risk it, Stacey! #Eastenders,” @chiavarichairs_ posted.

ShadowandViolet added: “My pov: social services will take Lilly and give someone to look after her #eastenders.”

@CrysTalksVlogs shared: “Is it just me or is Lily really irritating in this pregnancy storyline?
