EastEnders’ Molly Rainford says Anna Knight wants to ‘explore the eye candy’
EastEnders ' new star Molly Rainford has teased romance for her character Anna Knight as she arrives in Albert Square, with the Walford resident "excited to explore the new eye candy" on the soap.
The Strictly star joins EastEnders next week as a member of brand new family the Knights, made up of patriarch George (Colin Salmon), his other daughter Gina (Francesca Henry) and his lover and Linda Carter's mother Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe).
Speaking to OK! at an EastEnders screening, Molly revealed that Anna and Gina Knight are ready to hit the dating scene, but don't want anything too serious.
When asked whether the girls will be looking for love, Francesca replied, "Anything with a pulse," with Molly adding: "Coming into the Square, we came from Marbella, we're used to that world.
"And being behind the bar, we've grown up quickly, but I just think we're excited to explore the new eye candy on the square, rather than, you know, looking for something serious to soon.
"But no, I feel like the girls are typical 20 Somethings and yeah, they're just excited to be there," she continued, with Colin adding: "And I'm terrified," while Harriet says: "I'll sort them out, don't worry darling."
The Knight family are set to make their EastEnders debut next week and it won't be long before Anna and Gina start receiving male attention, with Bobby Beale taking a liking to them — although Kathy isn't a fan when they bring their chihuahua Tyson into the café.
The girls don't get off to a great start in The Vic either after they try to get the party started in the evening, misjudging the mood being unaware of Lola's recent demise.
Played by James Bond star Colin Salmon, George Knight will be introduced as Elaine's new lover who's moving into the Vic with his family — something Linda is completely unaware of.
The landlady is incandescent with rage when she discovers Elaine's plan was to invite George over from Marbella all along and sets out to learn more about her mother's new boyfriend, quizzing Anna and Gina on their dad's past when Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and Winston (Ulric Browne) recognise him as a championship boxer.
Over the upcoming episodes, Linda and George are set to clash, with a shocking revelation from George provoking Linda to lash out.
