Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) will finally find out his sister Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) has been cheating on her husband Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) with his nemesis Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) on the ITV soap. The two men are due to go head-to-head in upcoming Emmerdale scenes, but which one will come out alive after a gunshot is fired?

In scenes yet to air, Chas holds her nerve as her brother questions her on her fallout with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

Aaron knows she’s been having an affair behind Paddy’s back and has been left unsure about how to handle it as he sees the village vet as a father figure.

When Cain hears Chas’ burner phone vibrating he is stunned to see a chain of messages from an unknown number revealing an affair.

Cain decided to call the number and Al, who has no idea he is being called by his enemy, answers thinking it is Chas on the line.

Cain’s expression darkens as he listens to Al’s voice on the other end of the line.

Filled with a combination of anger and grief, the soap stalwart uses the phone to set a trap.

Later on, Al is expecting to meet with Chas but he is greeted by a steely Cain who is carrying a shotgun.

A vengeful Cain holds Al at gunpoint with his utter disgust over his affair with Chas evident.

As Al’s confidence grows, he begins to stride off but Cain reveals the gun was only to get his attention and he prepares to fight Al.

The men start throwing punches at each other as the fight turns vicious.

When both their gazes fall upon the shotgun lying nearby, they both fight with all their strength to reach it before the other.

As the shotgun blast ring out, it is unclear who has been shot by who.

Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) and Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) are stunned to hear the crack of a gunshot blare out of the village, but what will they find when they go searching?

Cain actor Jeff told Express.co.uk and other publications earlier this year: “I think Al and Cain have been circling each other for quite a while, and they have probably been circling each other because of Covid.

“But I can’t get near him because of Covid, which was the sensible thing to do, but this is going to lead to something if he finds out.

“I think there could be fireworks but not the kind you get in November.”

Producer Jane Hudson, who was being interviewed alongside Jeff, teased: “It’s Emmerdale so there is usually a murderer lurking around the corner.”

She added: “There are some fantastic family rows which are going to take place.”

So will the murderer in question turn out to be Cain or corrupt businessman Al?

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
