Gogglebox fans spot awkward BAFTA snub as audience members spotted not clapping

BAFTA TV Awards viewers were left baffled after audience members appeared to not celebrate Gogglebox winning the Best Reality and Constructed Factual award.

After the popular Channel 4 show beat The Dog House, Married At First Sight UK and RuPaul's Drag Race UK to be named winner, several members of the cast and crew including Lee Riley, took to the stage to accept the award.

After Lee took to the podium to speak at last night's (May 8) awards, the camera showed that several members of the audience were not clapping or cheering.

Then Lee cracked a joke about a duck, in which he pointed out an x-rated clip the Gogglebox families were recently shown, but his wisecrack was met with silence.

And viewers at home took to Twitter to point out the apparent cold reaction to Gogglebox's big win.

One wrote: "The audience seem quite snobby not wanting to clap for Gogglebox winning at the #Baftas LOL".

Another said: "Snobs not clapping for gogglebox."

A third baffled fan said: "Duck mention, down like a lead balloon."

"#BAFTAS that went down like a lead balloon … And they walked off quickly… Hmmmm.", a fourth added.

Lee also claimed he'd avoided certain celebrities at the awards after previously slagging them off when he was appearing on the show.

During the backstage winners press conference, Lee said he had to “duck and dive” in order to avoid some celebs on the red carpet.

Discussing who they were most looking forward to seeing at the event, Lee and his castmate Mica Ven, revealed they wee keen to not cross paths with anyone they previously “slagged off”.

Lee said: “I have ducked and dived a few times.”

TV star Lee was tight-lipped about who he wanted to avoid at the bash but revealed co-star Jenny Newby refuses to go outside without makeup on since appearing on the show.

Lee said: “Jenny would never go out without makeup after we started Gogglebox.

“Yeah, she would never. She would always go out without makeup before."
