Gwen Stefani shades fiance Blake Shelton and says he took a 'long time' to propose in five-year relationship

GWEN Stefani joked her fiance Blake Shelton took a 'long time' to propose.

Blake popped the question in October after being together for five years.

Gwen said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon how shocked she was by the proposal: “[I] wasn’t expecting it at the moment that it happened — at all

“Didn’t have any idea. Nobody knew. I think he had told my dad on my birthday about two weeks earlier.”

“I gotta tell you, I was sort of like, ‘What’s happening with us?’”

“It was kind of in my mind. ‘We’ve been together a long time now. What’s going on?’ I was in that place in my head.”

Gwen described the proposal as 'magical' even though it got off to a rocky start: “We had this trip planned to come to Oklahoma. … [We were like,] ‘Maybe we should just cancel the trip. This is getting too hard. Like, it’s not gonna [work]. Everybody has to get tested.’ And everyone was on edge…

She went on: “We were this close to, like, canceling the trip, and we ended up making it all happen. We were all here at the ranch, and basically, it happened, but everybody was trying to make it not happen because nobody knew it was gonna happen. And Blake, meanwhile, had this ring in the side of his truck…”

However, Gwen added wedding planning is on hold because of the pandemic: “It’s like, ‘Blake, why couldn’t you have [proposed] before?’”

“Now we can’t have a wedding with the pandemic. It’s, like, sitting around going, ‘OK, drag it out more!’”

But in the meantime, the singer has more good news with her new album, Let Me Reintroduce Myself.

Blake proposed with a huge customed-designed engagement ring, which is reported to be worth at least $500,000,

The CMA winner gave her a giant oval diamond ring containing a six-prong setting with a 6-carat solitaire diamond set in a white gold or platinum band.

Gwen announced their engagement flashing her diamond ring and sharing a kiss with the country star.

She also added the caption: "Yes, please!”

Blake shared the same picture in his social media accounts and wrote: "Hey Gwen, thanks for saving my 2020… And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!”

An insider told Us Weekly of the proposal: "It meant so much to Gwen that Blake was so traditional about it."

The engagement followed rumors they had split as they cuddled together while celebrating their win at the 2020 CMT Music Awards.

The Voice coaches looked loved-up as they toasted to their Best Collaborative Video gong for their duet, Nobody But You.
