I’m A Celebrity chaos as This Morning star turns down ‘desperate’ ITV bosses

New I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! trailer

If we go by previous years, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! should return to screens sometime next month.

And a new trailer, which has just been released featuring the show’s hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, appears to suggest just that.

But one celebrity has announced that they won’t be taking part in the upcoming series, despite reportedly being asked at the very last minute.

The celebrity cast will soon be readying themselves for the journey to Australia but one star won’t be making the plane journey over.

Presenter, author and former MP Gyles Brandreth has claimed he was contacted by I’m A Celebrity bosses just this week to ask if he would join the latest series.

While chatting with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on the latest instalment of This Morning, he revealed: “I was asked again this year.

“What is interesting is that they’re obviously talking to people very last minute because I was asked again only this week.”

The Celebrity Gogglebox star pondered whether “maybe somebody dropped out,” and that was why “they were desperate” to have him on board.

However, he announced that he flatly refused their offer.

Express.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment following Gyle’s claims.

Gyles isn’t the only This Morning regular who has been tipped to enter the jungle this year.

It had been rumoured that Josie Gibson was in talks to join both I’m A Celeb and Strictly Come Dancing. But after she wasn’t announced as one of the fifteen celebrities taking to the iconic dancefloor, has this freed her up to appear on the ITV reality series?

Other names linked to the latest series include Love Island and TOWIE star Olivia Atwood – who was forced to leave the show prematurely last year because of a medical issue – as well as former Prime Minister Liz Truss.

Given former Health Secretary Matt Hancock’s shock appearance last year, it may not be too inconceivable that another MP could become a campmate.

While the exact date – or any of the celebrities taking part – have not yet been confirmed, the 60-second trailer gives fans a hint of what to expect this year.

In the clip, a voiceover unveils “The Jungle Retreat” as the iconic I’m A Celebrity music echoes in the background.

Viewers will need to tune in to see exactly which famous faces touch down in the Australian jungle and who will be vying for the title of King or Queen of the Jungle.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! returns to ITV later this year.
