On Saturday, the remaining Strictly Come Dancing contestants will take to the dance floor in a bid to impress the judges. Last weekend saw the elimination of Adam Peaty and his dance partner Katya Jones after they landed in the bottom two with Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin. However, in an interview with Rylan Clark-Neal on BBC Two’s It Takes Two, Sara Davies and her dance partner Aljaz Skorjanec discussed their future in the competition.

The duo received great feedback from the judges last weekend, as Sara admitted: “I loved it.

“It was going really well in rehearsals and then we got to the dress run and they put the hair on.

“And it just went up another level. Look at that hair.”

Despite getting a high score for their routine last weekend, the duo wasn’t so lucky the week before.

Rylan went on to ask Sara about how she felt performing the Quickstep after having her “confidence knocked” the previous week with their Couple’s Choice.

“I was and I think it was because we went back to ballroom,” the businesswoman admitted.

“And even though it was so fast, I felt like we had plenty of practice over the week.”

She continued: “My feet were going 20 to the dozen underneath and I was just trying to be a bit of a swan on the top.”

Rylan quizzed Aljaz on how well Sara has managed to balance her work commitments and Strictly training.

“I was really worried,” the professional dancer confessed. “First if you’re going to have enough time (and) if you’re going to have enough energy. And then if we are able to get ready for every Saturday.

“And then after a couple of days… we start super early and we get so much done in that training room.”

Sara explained she had her confidence knocked after she received a bad score from the judges the previous week.

“I really took a knock confidence-wise the week before,” she said.

“The difficult thing was Aljaz was so pleased with it. So, because he was pleased I was really pleased.

“And then the judges, not so pleased. That was really difficult.

“But, the result shows I was completely expecting that we were going to be in the bottom two,” Sara admitted.

“I had geared up ready to do that dance again and then when the light didn’t go red, the relief to know that the public were behind you was 10 times better than the rubbish-ness you felt when the judges gave us a bit of a kicking.”

Aljaz went on to joke that following the judge’s negative feedback, he zoned out and refused to listen.

As the interview came to a close, Sara went on to air her concerns about being eliminated from the competition.

“I just don’t want to be at the bottom,” Sara added.

It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
