Liam Payne says he's 'taking time apart' from son Bear after agreement with ex Cheryl

LIAM Payne has revealed he's taking time away from his son Bear after coming to an agreement with ex-girlfriend Cheryl.

The singer, 27, is having an extended break from his little boy, three, after the first coronavirus pandemic prompted him and Cheryl to discuss co-parenting.

In an interview with Tings magazine, the former One Direction star said: "[Lockdown] it's the longest I haven't seen him [Bear] in his life.

"But we discussed from the start and for different reasons, me and Cheryl decided I should be away for a little bit.

"It's not unusual for me to be in and out of his life.

"He's a quiet and chill child. He doesn't worry about things too much."

Liam explained how the former couple had always wanted to keep Bear out of the public eye, but by doing so his role as a father had also gone under the radar.

He continued: "I get to be a dad and have a family in that way, that's complete opposite of that [showbiz] zone.

"It's mine for my own, expect for Cheryl and Bear."

Last month we revealed Liam quit booze after being warned to curb his partying for his son.

The Bedroom Floor singer reached out to pals and advisers who are helping him to stay sober.

Sources said he was given a stark warning he might not be around to see son Bear, three, grow up.

Liam split from Bear’s mum Cheryl Tweedy, 37, in 2018 and is now engaged to US model Maya Henry, 20. He has been booze-free for more than a month.

A source said: “Liam was taking things a bit far with partying. He was given warnings, heeded them and is now in a good place.

“The most worrying thing for him was he was told to consider whether he’d be around for Bear if he carried on the way he was going. It was a tough warning, probably exaggerated, but it jolted him into action as he’s a devoted dad.”

Liam has previously spoken of seeking help to stop boozing.

A spokeswoman for the singer declined to comment.
