Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford says she calls hubby Eamonn Holmes ‘lawn police’
Loose Women host Ruth Langsford has shared her hilarious nickname for husband Eamonn Holmes.
The 60-year-old presenter was back on our screens on Wednesday afternoon alongside fellow panelists Frankie Bridge, Kéllé Bryan and Janet Street-Porter.
The famous foursome discussed the news that gardener Monty Don has told people to let their grass grow.
Monty, 65, has said that men should be less "obsessive" and "controlling" about having a tidy lawn.
Speaking about the news article on the ITV lunchtime show, Ruth explained: "I screenshotted it and sent it to Eamonn and he'll be fuming because he loves his stripy lawn.
"What is it with sheds and lawns? When they get to 45 or 50 they suddenly become obsessed with the lawn.
"Eamonn wasn't like that when I mer him. We call him the lawn police."
She continued: "I used to stand at the kitchen window with Jack and say 'look, the lawn police are out'.
"He walks with his hands behind his back and it's really strange isn't it. They get this obsession."
The Saturdays singer Frankie agreed: "Yeah I know. You're saying 45 to 50 but Wayne [Bridge] just turned 40, well he'll be 41 this year, and he's got this sit-on lawn mower.
"I'm sure it's just to get away from the family.
"He puts his head phones in and goes out there for holidays.
She joked: "I'm eight years younger then him and it's not what I signed up for."
It's not the first time Ruth has opened up about her marriage to Eamonn, 61.
Despite having their "moments," the This Morning presenter confessed she has always been a fan of her husband's work – well before they had even met.
She told Prima: "I used to watch him on GMTV and I always thought he was handsome, funny and a brilliant journalist.
"It was nerve-racking when I did meet him; I remember thinking, 'Oh, my God, that's Eamonn Holmes."
Eamoonn and Ruth got married in 2010 after a 13-year romance, and are parents to their 19-year-old son Jack.
The couple cover for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield during their breaks from This Morning.
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm
