Netflix has recently wrapped up season five of its highly-acclaimed detective series which also explores themes of love on earth and in hell. One relationship between Eve (played by Inbar Lavi) and Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt), in particular, had Lucifer fans theorising about a potential split as it’s been revealed that the couple could be related.

Fans were introduced to Maze in the pilot episode of Lucifer as one of the most powerful demons to have ever existed.

She was the daughter of Adam’s first wife Lilith.

During her time residing in hell, she was faithfully ruled by Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) until he left for Earth.

Lucifer had been banished to hell for his rebellion and was in charge of torturing people.

Lucifer renounced his title and left for Earth after he grew tired of being in charge of hell.

He chose to move to Los Angeles, where he opened a nightclub called Lux.

Back in hell, Lucifer’s departure made all the demons become ruthless and their torturing worsened.

Eventually, he sent for Maze to help him solve the case of a murdered woman by brutalising the suspects.

Under the guise of a bartender at Lux, Maze was able to help Lucifer torture suspects of murder cases.

In season four, Maze meets Eve who had escaped heaven and returned to Earth. The pair hit it off as friends and later became an item.

Eve was created to be Adam’s second wife, but she left after growing bored of their marriage.

She had also longed for an energetic and fun love, which was another driving force for her to find Lucifer in Los Angeles.

But it was her relationship with Maze which made fans pose an interesting theory.

Taking to Reddit, a viewer posted: “Eve is second wife of Adam, first wife was Lilith and Lilith is mother of Maze, which indicates that…”

This theory highlighted the fact that Eve was basically Maze’s stepmother, which could lead to them splitting up on the upcoming season of Lucifer.

However, another fan disagreed with the theory, arguing: “Absolutely nothing? That would not make them related at all, because Adam is not Mazikeen’s dad.”

This was further explained: “Apparently Lilith had thousands of demon children to help Lucifer create his demon army.

“Both had a common enemy, God. I don’t think it’s indicated who the father of the demons is.”

With no direct knowledge of Maze’s father, there’s potential for the pair to realise they are related.

In season five, the couple had tense moments in their relationship which they were able to sort through – but could this revelation be the one thing to break them up for good?

Lucifer seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and seasons 4-5 on Netflix.
