Motherland is making a comeback with season three on BBC Two. A group of mums and a people-pleasing dad will be going through the rollercoaster motions of being a parent, juggling their workload and comparing themselves to the Alpha Mums. Here’s everything you need to know about the cast of Motherland series three.

Who is in the cast of Motherland season 3? 

Julia – Anna Maxwell Martin 

Actress Anna Maxwell Martin returns as the lead character Julia in Motherland.

She has won two British Academy Television Awards for starring as Esther Summerson in the 2005 adaptation of Bleak House and N in Channel 4’s Poppy Shakespeare.

Other series Martin has featured in includes Code 404, The Irregulars and Good Omens.

As of late, she is probably best recognised for her role in Line of Duty as Patricia Carmichael.

Liz – Diane Morgan 

Playing one of Julia’s school mum friends is comedian and actress Diane Morgan.

She is primarily known for her comedy person of Philomena Cunk on Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe.

In recent years though, Morgan has been branching out and has been in Me Before You, Death to 2020, Frayed and Netflix’s Afterlife.

She also wrote and starred in BBC comedy Mandy as the titular character last year.

Kevin – Paul Ready 

The only man in the group is Kevin, a stay-at-home dad who wants to keep everyone happy.

Actor Paul Ready played Rob MacDonald in BBC series Bodyguard and Harry Goodsir in AMC’s The Terror in 2018.

The following year, he was journalist Nick Caplan in the series MotherFatherSon.

Some of his smaller roles have been in Endeavour, The Witness for the Prosecution, Fortitude and Ripper Street.

Amanda – Lucy Punch 

Actress Lucy Punch is back as Amanda, an Alpha Mum who has recently gone through a divorce.

Some of Punch’s work includes Ella Enchanted, Hot Fuzz, Bad Teacher, Dinner for Schmucks and Into The Woods.

In terms of series, Punch was Esme Squalor in A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Felicity – Joanna Lumley 

Joining the series three cast for a guest appearance is actress, presenter and former model Joanna Lumley.

She will play Amanda’s mum Felicity who she is forced to have a Mother’s Day lunch.

Lumley has a plethora of work behind her, a few of which are Absolutely Fabulous, The Wolf of Wall Street, Finding Alice and Paddington 2.

Meg – Tanya Moodie 

Actress Tanya Moodie joined the Motherland cast in season two and will be back as Meg for series three.

Meg is a businesswoman who the mums often compare themselves to but little do they know she is also a secret party girl.

Actress Moodie has been in A Discovery of Witches, Tin Star and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Motherland season 3 starts tonight, Monday, May 10, at 9pm on BBC Two.
