Mrs Brown's Boys star addresses future of show beyond Christmas special and next year's miniseries | The Sun

A MRS Brown's Boys star addresses future of show beyond Christmas special and next year's miniseries.

The comedy has been on the BBC since 2011 and ran for three series before focusing in on Christmas Specials.

In recent years, there has been some major changes among the Mrs Brown's Boys cast, with Rory Cowan leaving in 2017 before Damien McKiernan replaced him as Rory Brown.

However, he then left the show in 2020 alongside Gary Hollywood, who played Dino.

While fans can look forward to another set of Christmas Specials this year, they're keen to know what the future holds for the show, and now Danny O'Carroll, who plays Buster Brady, has gave an update.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Danny, who is the son of show creator Brendan O'Carroll said: "We just filmed [this year's] Christmas Special up in Glasgow.

Mrs Brown Boys saved me – I don’t listen to woke critics says Brendan O’Carroll

"So we have one on Christmas Day and one on New Year's and then we have a mini-series that we're doing early next year.

"There's always stuff going on, and as long as they [the BBC] keep asking for it we'll keep doing it.

"It's up to dad really but he will never retire.

While that all sounds positive, Danny did warn fans that the situation could change if the festive episodes were taken out of the equation.

Danny explained: "But I think he said himself, if it's not going to be on on Christmas Day, he'll stop doing it."

The cast regularly take the show on the road and Danny said that's what he loves doing the most.

He said: "I love the stage, TV is quite slow for me and there's lots of rehearsals beforehand.

"When you're on stage, dad doesn't rehearse so it's like every man for himself which is the fun and every night is a different show.

"But it's just not the same in front of the cameras as it is on the stage."

Mrs Brown's Boys will return this Christmas on BBC One.
