Our Yorkshire Farm returned earlier this month for season five where fans could catch up on what’s been happening at Ravenseat Farm over the past few months. The Channel 5 docu-series delves into the everyday running of the land and livestock, as well as the balancing of family life with Amanda and Clive Owen’s nine children. But the Yorkshire Shepherdess has been concentrating on another project as of late.

Is Amanda Owen pursuing a career away from farming?
Amanda is a first-generation farmer who turned to life as a shepherdess after working as a model.
But she turned her back on this life after finding a hill shepherd book in the library which had photographs of landscapes and animals.
She explained on the Channel 5 series: “It wasn’t glossing over the hard side, it was very real and very gritty and atmospheric but it was just the thought of working outdoors and
actually doing something, having a physical job where you were out there feeling the elements — windburn, sunburn, rained on, all the rest of it — sounded like a good idea back then.”
She became a trainee shepherdess at the age of 21 and shortly after met her future husband Clive in 1995.
Having spent more than 20 years on Ravenseat, Amanda has been recently been focused elsewhere.
Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, the 47-year-old has been writing a cookbook with a difference.
Celebrating the Seasons with the Yorkshire Shepherdess will contain plenty of family-friendly recipes but will also be filled with photographs and anecdotes from Ravenseat.
The book will include “funny and charming stories about life with her family and their many four-legged charges”.

“From lambing and shearing to haymaking and feeding the flock in midwinter”, Amanda’s book aims to give fans of the show even more insight into their lives.
So while Amanda has been writing a book, it does revolve around what they do at Ravenseat, including what she makes in the kitchen for their family-of-11.
Taking to Instagram to share the good news, along with a picture of her youngest Nancy, she wrote: “Nancy has been super patient over the last eighteen months whilst I’ve been writing and testing recipes for a new book!
“Anyway the wait is nearly over…available in all good bookshops, on the high street and online.”

There isn’t too long to wait either if you want to get your hands on the book.
Celebrating the Seasons with the Yorkshire Shepherdess will be ready to purchase from Thursday, October 28.
The book is going to be out just a couple of days after the latest instalment of Our Yorkshire Farm.
And it sounds like it is once again up to Amanda, Clive and their little helper Nancy to do the work.
Our Yorkshire Farm will be back on Tuesday, October 26 on Channel 5.
The brief synopsis reads: “Clive, Amanda and Nancy handle lambing duties on the farm since the children go to school.”
But how will the trio get on with their latest duties around Ravenseat Farm?
Our Yorkshire Farm is available to watch on Channel 5.
