On Saturday, Strictly Come Dancing returned to BBC’s screens with seven celebrities battling it out to take home the dazzling glitterball trophy. Actress Rose Ayling-Ellis revealed an embarrassing moment, which left her red-faced after meeting Cynthia Erivo behind the scenes.
Rose and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice joined host Rylan Clark for Tuesday’s episode of It Takes Two.
While they shared details about their performance and rehearsals, Rose opened up about meeting guest judge Cynthia Erivo and shared the moment she embarrassed herself.
After expressing glee about being awarded a ten by Cynthia, Rose disclosed: “When I met her afterwards I got a bit nervous.”
The actress explained: “I said to her, she had a really nice dress and then she said ‘I like your dress’ and I said ‘yeah I’m playing Anna,’ why did I tell her I’m playing Anna when she just watched me.”

After recalling the moment, Rose visibly cringed, covered her face and said: “It was really embarrassing.”
Rylan laughed as he interjected: “You mugged yourself right off there,” while the actress added, “I embarrassed myself.”
Broadway star Cynthia Erivo, became the newest addition to the Strictly judging panel as she temporarily replaced Craig Revel-Horwood after he was diagnosed with COVID-19.
With a seasoned career in theatre production, fans believed she was best suited to be on the judging panel for the competition’s musical week.
Sadly this wasn’t the only slip-up, Rose and Gio were faced with on Saturday, as the couple had a minor error in their performance.
It was called out by Motsi Mabuse, who described it as a: “Tiny, tiny, tiny mini mouse mistake.”
However, Gio automatically raised his arm and confessed to it being his blunder, speaking to Rylan the dancer stated: “I saw the light on the floor too close to me, so I was trying to do a different step because I didn’t want to trip over.
Despite this, he went on to praise Rose as she followed his footing: “She didn’t understand it was a mistake, that’s how good and the fact that she was now following me.”
He continued to share his amazement: “I changed my steps and still she followed me, that’s unbelievable, this is like professional level.”
For musical week Rose and Gio took to the stage to perform the quickstep to Disney’s hit Frozen single, Love is an Open Door – which left the judges and viewers in complete awe.
Despite the minor mistake, they were awarded a total score of 27 which put them in third place.
Motsi, Arlene and Anton Du Beke gave the duo a score of nine for their performance, while Cynthia gave them a whopping ten.
Cynthia also won the hearts of viewers after she communicated with Rose through sign language to share her feedback.
Rose, who also largely uses BSL (British Sign Language), was pleasantly surprised and she thanked the judge.
Saturday also saw singer Tom Fletcher and his professional partner Amy Dowden eliminated from the competition after they failed to wow the judges.
Fans will have to tune in on Saturday to see what week ten will bring as the contestants try to secure their spot in the quarter-finals.
Strictly Come Dancing airs on Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
