Sally Lindsay left confused by awkward This Morning blunder during Paul OGrady tribute

Sally Lindsay was left completely puzzled during Wednesday's edition of This Morning when she came on the show to pay tribute to her close friend Paul O'Grady, who sadly died at the age of 67.

The Coronation Street star, 49, appeared via video link to discuss the tragic news of the sudden and unexpected passing of popular comedian and chat show host Paul.

Speaking to presenters Holly Willoughby and Joel Dommett, who was standing in for Phillip Schofield, Sally fought back tears as she recalled her wonderful memories with the northern TV star, who was also well-known for his drag queen persona Lily Savage.

As Holly and Joel shared their condolences for the guest, Sally continued to talk about her friendship with Paul, but all of a sudden bosses accidentally showed a photo on screen of another soap actress.

A still of EastEnders' Jo Joyner appearing on The Paul O'Grady Show flashed across, leaving Sally frowning in confusion.

Calling out the mistake straight away, Sally said: “Oh that’s Jo Joyner, that’s not me."

Realising the show's awkward blunder, Holly quickly replied: “Oh yeah… Sorry about that!"

Sally noted that she's often mistaken for the BBC soap star, as she said "everyone always gets us confused".

"That's hilarious," the star added with a giggle.

Speaking about the loss of the beloved TV star, Sally shared how devastated she was to learn of Paul's death.

“We were friends for a long, time it’s a shock this morning," she said, as Joel queried if the actress had met Paul back in her days on Corrie.

“Yeah, he started his daytime show, which was wonderful, and I was always on it," Sally explained, going on to share the last time she spoke to Paul.

“Last time I spoke to him was last Thursday and he had to go because one of his pigs was ill,” the star reflected.

Paul's husband Andre Portasio announced Paul had sadly passed away on a statement released first thing on Wednesday.

Andre, who married the comedian in 2017, said: "It is with great sadness that I inform you that Paul has passed away unexpectedly but peacefully yesterday evening. We ask, at this difficult time, that whilst you celebrate his life you also respect our privacy as we come to terms with this loss.

"He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion," the statement went on. "I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."
