Scarlett Moffatt has admitted that she’s convinced Richard Madeley is a vampire – but she means it as a compliment.

The 31-year-old reality star and podcaster made the confession on Loose Women as the team dug into her strange belief.

She told the panel: “It sounds like an insult, but it's actually the biggest compliment. Me and my boyfriend do a podcast where we talk about weird and wonderful things, and I believe in vampires, and one way to spot the vampire is that they just don't age.

“Be honest, Richard has looked 42 for about 42 years!”

The gang laughed before Nadia Sawalha admitted: “You're right actually! Every time I see Richard I think ‘what is he doing?!’”

Charlene White agreed and laughed: “No lies told here!”

Richard has been a long-standing fan favourite on British TV, having worked next to wife Judy Finnegan on This Morning before getting their own series.

He is now appearing on Good Morning Britain alongside Susanna Reid, filling in the space on the news desk that Piers Morgan left behind in March.

While he is only meant to be standing in for the month of June, with Martin Lewis taking over for some days in July, he has made no secret of the fact that he’s interested in a full time position.

Despite being compared to Alan Partridge as he gives his opinion on the news cycle, he has proved to be must-watch early morning TV.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her show last Monday, he admitted that wife Judy wasn’t keen on remaining a presenter and GMB would be a good fit for him.

"I get on really well with the other presenters like Susanna, Ranvir and Charlotte. I love working with them," he said.

"To me, it's a tonic, it's great to be back in a suit and tie and working again."

But as for a long-term future, he had no positive answer, and said: “That's not on the agenda. I’m basically doing what I’ve done before which is to fill in."

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
