If you’re currently hooked on Netflix’s steamiest show Sex/Life, you are not alone. We’re of the firm belief that the raunchy series is the best thing since sliced bread and are currently bingeing it like there’s no tomorrow.
However, we managed to drag our eyes away for a few moments to do some digging and discovered that leading lady Sarah Shahi’s real life is uncannily similar to that of her character, Billie Connelly.
In the show, Billie fantasises about her passionate sexual exploits with fiery hot ex-boyfriend, Brad – played by Adam Demos – as a way to escape her lacklustre marriage. Not only is Sarah dating Adam in real life, she’s also a divorced mother of three children and revealed that she “relates” to Billie’s plight.
Sarah was married to Shameless star Steve Howey for 11 years before she filed for divorce in May 2020. The pair share three children – William Wolf, 10, and twins Violet Moon and Knox Blue, six – and their divorce was finalised in January 2021.
Speaking to Oprah Daily, Sarah said: “There's a lot about Billie that I could relate to. I'm a mother of three kids.
“Something happens, once you're in a long-term relationship or become a parent—you act as if those desires that you felt back in the day before you have kids, you repress them.”
However, it seems Sarah’s “desires” were well and truly reignited when she met her Australian-born co-star Adam. The pair announced their relationship earlier this year with a gorgeous Valentine’s Day pic on Instagram.
However, Sarah revealed that she felt the “chemistry” with David back in early 2020.

Sarah recalled an electrifying moment during the show’s table read and said: "I remember I was sitting between Mike [Vogel] and Adam. I was cold, so Adam gave me his jacket, something to put my hands in.
"We all had instant chemistry. From the moment we said hello to each other, there was a warmth."
And it appears the happy couple are still going strong. In May, Sarah shared a heartfelt message with her Instagram followers to mark Adam’s birthday.
She wrote: “Not exactly sure how two people on opposite sides of the world could have more in common, were meant to meet, were meant to be together. But I do know I met my soulmate. I do know I found my forever.”
Sex/Life’s show runner and creator Stacy Rukeyser jumped in to take credit for the pair’s meeting with her playful comment: “You’re welcome.”
Sex/Life is available to stream on Netflix now.
