Spoilers: What happens next as Ian is left to die in EastEnders?

Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) is left for dead in harrowing EastEnders scenes tonight (December 4), as a mystery resident takes revenge on the Queen Vic landlord.

Since the BBC One soap returned to screens in September, Ian has caused nothing but trouble for just about everyone who resides in Albert Square.

From stealing Max Branning’s (Jake Wood) money, to robbing from son Bobby (Clay Milner Russell), the long-serving mainstay has been a thorn in everyone’s side.

However, he paid the ultimately price in tonight’s instalment, as someone sought revenge. Yes, Ian was left to die in the Queen Vic. The question is: what happens next?

Monday’s episode (December 7) seemingly picks up from where tonight’s left off, as Ian lies motionless on the floor of The Vic.

A figure sneaks by — desperate to ensure that nobody sees them leaving the pub.

Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) returns home after picking up baby Albie, and she’s horrified to find her oldest friend lying on the floor.

She immediately calls Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), and — unable to find a pulse — thy panic, and wait for an ambulance to arrive.

Meanwhile, the police are soon swarming around Albert Square on a mission, and suspicions are running high, as news of the attack sends shockwaves through the Square.

The question is: who attacked Ian?

EastEnders continues Monday at 8:05pm on BBC One.
