Strictly 2020: Max George rocks up to rehearsals wearing wrist brace

Max George is just days away from making his Strictly Come Dancing live debut as the contest gets underway this weekend, but it looks like rehearsals are already taking their toll.

The singer, 32, who is famed for being in boyband The Wanted, was seen rocking up to rehearsals on Tuesday sporting a wrist brace on one arm.

He was with his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell as they prepared for another day of training, arriving at their rehearsal space while wearing face masks.

Max, who looked casual in a checked shirt and beanie hat, will no doubt have Strictly fans a little concerned, as his wrist was noticeably all wrapped up in a support.

It seems the star may have strained his wrist during rehearsals so far and is now taking a precautionary measure by wearing a support.

Suggesting his injury isn’t too serious, Max seemed in good spirits as he shared footage of himself and Dianne messing around in rehearsals to his Instagram story, as well as a cheeky lift selfie.

Proving he’s not one to take himself too seriously, Max was seen demonstrating his go-to dance move in a new promo clip for Strictly’s new series, as the competition begins to heat up and the couples perform their first dances.

He called his move the, err, ‘floppy fish’ and it’s safe to say it doesn’t give us the highest of hopes.

Essentially, Max bends down, rolls himself backwards and lays on the floor. It’s a move he says he first performed on stage with The Wanted about eight years ago, with his bandmate Jay McGuiness, who previously won Strictly in 2015, calling him an ‘icon’.

Sharing the move on social media, Max joked: ‘Anyone reckon they’ve got the ‘Floppy Fish’ down?…. It’s an extremely technical dance move which has required years of training so don’t be disheartened if you’re a little off.’

He’s set to take to the dance floor for his first performance with Dianne on Saturday night and he’s hoping fans won’t be comparing him to previous champ Jay.

‘Jay said he’s starting to feel like Yoda – a wise old Jedi giving me tips,’ Max joked to the Radio Times. ‘He’s always been an amazing dancer, but I’ll be doing the best I can for Dianne.’

Strictly is back for a limited run amid the coronavirus pandemic, with the show airing for nine weeks until December 19.

Jay joins a whole host of celebrities hoping to perfect their fancy footwork, including Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, EastEnders’ Maisie Smith and GMB presenter Ranvir Singh.
