Strictly Come Dancing 2019: ‘It’s a big show’ Star speaks on ‘challenge’ of new series
Jamie, 30, was announced as the eleventh celebrity set to take part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing alongside 14 other famous faces from various other platforms.
Best known for being one of the original cast of Made in Chelsea, Jamie is going into the competition with a legion of supporters.
The BBC dance show star will still be filming the hit reality television show whilst taking part on Strictly, so will have to work his commitments alongside one another.
With no dance experience under his cap, Jamie will have to put in the hours and now the reality star has spoken out about the new challenge.
I’m just very excited for the challenge
Speaking to press including Express.co.uk ahead of the return of Made in Chelsea last month, Jamie said of taking part in the show: “I’m really excited.
“I’m just very excited for the challenge.
“It’s just a big show and to be given something where you’re told you’re going to learn how to dance, that is epic.”
The reality star joked: “Whenever I go to a nightclub now, I can just go, check this out. Watch me ballroom on the dance floor.
“But, really, really excited because it’s a real proud moment for a lot of my family who say, ‘Wow, you’ve been given this opportunity.”
Teasing what’s ahead for fans of Made in Chelsea, Jamie added: “What I think is important is that we have all these topics which the usual Chelsea topics are, last series we spoke about things which are really important.”
The reality star continued: “This series, again what we try and focus on are really important issues about mental well-being and what therapy is good and self-awareness.”
As such a potent figure with a younger audience, Jamie has sustained a mass following on his social media channels.
Compared to the rest of the Strictly cast, Jamie has the biggest support on Twitter with a staggering 874.8k followers.
On Instagram, Jamie nearly matches his support on the micro blogging site with a legion of 881k followers.
Could his support on social media mean Jamie has a good chance of taking the Glitterball trophy this year?
It seems other reality stars are also wanting to follow in Jamie’s footsteps as it seems likely more personalities from the realm of stardom will be taking to the dance floor in the future.
Following her stint on Love Island this summer, Amy Hart, 27, has voiced her interest in taking part next year.
“I would love to do Strictly, but I don’t know if I would be able to as they are quite fussy with who they have,” Amy told The Daily Star.
“But if the opportunity came up, I’d love to do it. That is what I want to do next year.”
Having been coupled up with professional dancer AJ Pritchard’s, 24, brother Curtis Pritchard, 23, during her time in the villa, will Amy be dazzling on the dance floor next year?
Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
