The Batman suffered a huge delay earlier this year, but that hasn’t stopped the excitement for the rebooted DC Comics character. With Robert Pattinson taking the helm of Bruce Wayne for the first time, expectations are extremely large. So far, the trailer has shown off just how dark and dingy this new version of Gotham – and indeed the Dark Knight – will be.
However it seems as if there will also be a beacon of light involved in the film.
Earlier this month shooting of The Batman resumed after Pattinson was diagnosed with COVID-19.
Since the return to filming, fans have been scoping out outdoor sets in Liverpool, England, where it is being shot.
And the latest collection of on-set photos show a man wearing a Superman outfit – the photo can be seen in this article BELOW.
The imagery come from @SamMcTweets, who has posted a group of extras walking to a production trailer.
Many of the extras are in either fancy dress or Halloween costumes.
Included in this image is the bright blue outfit and red cape of Superman.
The iconic S is even emblazoned on the back of the cape, proving without a doubt who this costume is of.
It looks like the man wearing the costume isn’t Henry Cavill, the current Superman.
Despite this, it certainly does prove the existence of Superman in the new Matt Reeves-penned Batman franchise.
2022’s The Batman was confirmed to be completely separate to the ongoing DC Cinematic Universe, which includes The Flash, Wonder Woman, WW1984, and Shazam!.
So, the fact that a man dressed as Superman in the film has been spotted confirms that the character at least exists in the new universe.
Cavill reportedly signed on for “three more” Superman appearances in the near future with DC Comics and Warner Bros.
Although these appearances were neither confirmed nor denied, it would make a huge impact on DC’s ongoing cinematic universe if Cavill were to appear next to the brand new Batman.
Cavill last appeared as Superman in 2017’s Justice League.

The blockbuster was supposed to be DC Comics’ response to the Avengers films – but it didn’t go quite that way.
The film grossed just over $650 million, leaving DC to all but cancel the franchise.
Since then, it has been announced Zack Snyder’s director’s cut will be seeing a release on HBO Max in 2021.
Recently set photos also showed off Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
The photos showed off Farrell in a huge amount of prosthetics, changing his face to a larger, more emotive crime lord.
Earlier this year director Reeves spoke out about the Penguin and his inclusion in the film.
He said: “Oz is not yet the kingpin that he’s going to become.
“The Penguin, in fact, doesn’t like being called the Penguin.”
The Batman is due for release on March 4, 2022.
