Kaitlyn Bristowe first found fame on ABC’s hit dating show The Bachelor as a contestant before taking the reins on the spin-off show, The Bachelorette. Since her stints on both reality shows, Bristowe has lifted the lid on how much the TV network paid her to take part.
The Bacheloret recently opened up about her time on the hit reality show, during her appearance on the Trading Secrets podcast.
The realit detailed her experience on The Bachelorette, while also touching on the money she made from the show.
Bristowe wasn’t holding back with the podcast’s host, who’s also her fiancé, Jason Tartick, as she began recalling how little she’s earned from featuring in The Bachelor franchise.
The TV personality dropped a shocking revelation that ABC executives only gave her $1,500 (around £1,202) between season 19 of The Bachelor and season 11 of The Bachelorette in 2015.
She explained that her contract was the reason for the low salary, as it was being negotiated since she was in the running to be the Bachelorette for season 11 alongside Britt Nilsson.
Bristowe admitted: “I think they offered me $40,000 (£32,053). You’d think I’d be like, ‘Jackpot! Sign me up!’”
But that wasn’t the case, the TV personality didn’t jump at the offer after she was advised to hire an entertainment lawyer, which she later did with the help of her stepdad.
The reality star explained: “He changed a lot and negotiated my contract big time for me.
“One of the executive producers said to me, ‘You got an entertainment lawyer, and you’re asking for this amount of money? I’m sorry.
“I thought this is about love for you.’ F**k off! It’s about love and money, OK? They go hand in hand for me right now,” she joked.
Bristowe continued to explain: “Because they said you’re going against Britt, I was like, ‘I’m not doing it.’
“And then I said, ‘I’ll only do it if you paid me as much as you paid Chris Soules.’ I said I wanted to make the same as he did,” she recalled.
Soules took part in season 19 of The Bachelor in 2017, but according to Celebrity Net Worth he already had a small fortune being $1.5 million before he even joined the show.
Although she remained determined to get a higher pay, Bristowe was concerned that her demands may cost hele in The Bachelorette.
However, the reality star made sure to negotiate that even if her competitor Nilsson was picked, she would have still secured the money.
Thankfully Bristowe got the best of both worlds after she became the Bachelorette in the show’s 11th season.

But before her time on season 11 of The Bachelorette, Bristowe had to win over the hearts of the contestants, who had the task to choose between her and Britt for the next lead of the series.
The bunch of romantic hopefuls chose to compete for Bristowe’s heart, ultimately sending Britt home.
By the end of the season, Bristowe narrowed down her search to Nick Viall and Shawn Booth.
In the end, she chose Booth, but the two never set a wedding date and ended up going their separate ways in 2018.
The Bachelorette airs on ABC in the US.
