The Chase’s Anne Hegerty tells player she’s ‘quietly disgusted’ after her U-turn
The Chase's Anne Hegerty laid into a contestant and jokingly told her she was "quietly disgusted" with the tactics she used in last night's show.
Gemma, 31, was third up to face Anne, dubbed "The Governess", and she told host Bradley Walsh she wanted to buy a new car after recently reversing into a wall, ECHO reports.
The hotel receptionist, from the Isle of Wight, managed to score £4,000 in her cash builder in the first half of the ITV game show.
Anne then offered her a low offer of £1,000 and a high offer of £40,000.
Gemma had previously told contestant Neil to "go high" and so Anne predicted she would follow her own advice and take the £40,000 herself.
Shocking viewers, Gemma instead said: "I did tell Neil to go high, Ben's done brilliant, I want to get back so I'm going to take the £1,000."
Bradley and Anne both looked shocked.
"Well, I'm just quietly disgusted," joked Anne, while fans watching at home also raged at her decision.
Commenting on Twitter, one viewer wrote: "Love the "go high or go home" from Gemma and she then takes the low offer.

"Hopefully you'll be going home then you hypocrite!"
A second fan said: "Absolute snake on #TheChase telling someone to go for the high offer, getting him binned and then taking the low offer herself."
"First time I think I have cheered on the Chaser," said another annoyed viewer.
Despite going low Gemma failed to get past The Chaser and went home with nothing, leaving viewers thrilled.
The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow
