The Great release date, cast, trailer, plot: When is the series out?
The Great comes from Oscar-nominated writer Tony McNamara, who was behind the Oscar-nominated film, The Favourite. The series is a satirical drama that explores the marriage of the infamous Catherine the Great and Peter III of Russia in the 18th century, played by Ellie Fanning and Nicholaus Hoult respectively.
When is The Great out?
The Great will premiere first on Hulu on Friday, May 15 in the US.
The series will then arrive in the UK on Starzplay and Channel 4 in Summer 2020.
The Great will be available Starzplay streaming service across the globe.
Starzplay is available via Amazon Prime, the Apple TV app and Virgin Media in the UK for an additional fee.
Starzplay customers will also be able to stream and download episodes of The Geat via the Stazplay App.
Episodes will air weekly on Chanel 4 and the channel’s streaming service All 4.

Who stars in The Great?
Ellie Fanning and Nicholas Hoult lead the cast of The Great on Starz.
Fanning stars as Catherine the Great, the Empress of Russia from 1762 until 1796.
She is best known for playing Princess Aurora in the Maleficent film series and Violet in Teen Spirit.
Hoult portrays Peter III, the Emperor of Russia from January 5, 1762, until July 8, 1762.
He is best known for playing Tony Stonem in the E4 drama Skins and as Hank McCoy in the X-Men film series.
His other credits include The Favourite, Tolkien and Mad Max: Fury Road.
Also in the cast of The Great is The Musketeers, Phoebe Fox as Marial, Bohemian Rhapsody’s Gwilym Lee as Grigor and A Series of Unfortunate Events star Louis Hynes as Vlad.
Also in the cast are Adam Godley, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Sebastian de Souza, Bayo Gbadamosi and Belinda Bromilow in currently unknown roles.

What is The Great about?
The Great is a satirical comedic drama about the rise of Catherine the Great.
Catherine the Great, born Princess Sophie of Anhalt-Zerbst, went on to become Russia’ longest-ruling female leader.
At 10-years-old, she was introduced to the prospective tsar Peter of Holstein-Gottorp and they married when she turned 16.
Their marriage was tumultuous and both were rumoured to have extramarital affairs.
Only six months into his reign as Tsar, Catherine organised his opponents to overthrow him to start her successful 34-year rule.

Is there a trailer for The Great?
Yes, there is a very short trailer for The Great.
The trailer introduces the new main protagonists Catherine the Great and her husband Peter III.
In the clip, the couple is celebrating their recent marriage.
However, things take a hilarious turn when Catherine moans she is married to an “idiot.”
The clip then cuts to Peter II, taking part in a “science” experiment by throwing a dog wearing a parachute off a balcony.
The Great premiers on Hulu on Friday, May 15
