How to watch The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 in the UK

The Handmaid’s Tale season five has already begun in the USA, having made its debut on Wednesday, September 14, on Hulu.

So American fans are already more than halfway through this latest series with episode seven airing next week on Wednesday, October 19.

Unfortunately, the streaming platform Hulu is only available in the USA so UK fans don’t have access.

There is no need to worry though as there is an alternative way to watch the drama unfold across the pond.

The first four seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale have all come out on Channel 4 in the UK.

This will be no different for series five but it will also air on Amazon Prime Video after the streaming service took over MGM which produces the drama.

It has since been confirmed that The Handmaid’s Tale season five is going to premiere on both Channel 4 and Prime Video in the UK sometime this month.

An official release date hasn’t been announced just yet but it will begin in the next few weeks.

Season five will follow the aftermath of the surprise outcome of The Handmaid’s Tale’s fourth outing.

June murdered Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes) and will face the consequences of her actions.

She is also going to have to contend with redefining her new identity and purpose away from Gilead.

It won’t be an easy journey for Serena Joy (Yvonne Strahovski) either, now without her husband by her side.

Serena will be trying to survive on her own, by attempting to raise her profile in Toronto.

Gilead’s influence is slowly creeping into Canada and it is her mission to preach its beliefs to outsiders.

Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) works with Nick Blaine (Max Minghella) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) to try and reform Gilead and rise to power following the death of his wife.

Meanwhile, June, Moira (Samira Wiley) and Luke (O-T Fagbenle) are continuing to fight those at the top of the horrific system.

Channel 4’s head of acquisitions Nick Lee said: “Over the series, The Handmaid’s Tale has remained reflective, high quality and hard-hitting.

“We’re thrilled Channel 4 and All4 audiences will be returning to Gilead to see further justice dispensed in the next riveting instalment.”

All four series are also available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 continues every Wednesday on Hulu in the USA. The series will premiere in the UK on Amazon Prime Video and Channel 4 this month.
