The Masked Singer will return to screens on Saturday as five remaining celebrities battle it out for a place in the next stage of the ITV competition. Davina McCall, singer Rita Ora, comedian Mo Gilligan and broadcaster Jonathan Ross will once again be left to ponder over the identity of performers Lionfish, Mushroom, Firework, Doughnuts and Robobunny. Now, one eagle-eyed fan has predicted Lionfish will be revealed as a former Britain’s Got Talent star.
The Masked Singer fan shared their theories on Reddit about who they thought was underneath the bright striped costume.
User smlmaskedsinger claimed: “ITS PAUL POTTS HE SANG THAT SAME SONG ON BGT.”
Paul Potts took audiences by storm back in 2009 after he performed a pitch-perfect rendition of Puccini’s Nessun Dorma on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
After blowing the judges away, Potts went from being a manager at Carphone Warehouse to touring the world in a matter of months.
While the former contestant debated whether to apply for the hit talent show, his performance became one of the most-watched YouTube videos of all time, generating 165 million views.
One fan argued with this theory, Prestigious_Tough845 said: “Paul Potts is tiny compared to Lionfish and he is a much much better singer.”
While Bobington2006 theorised:
Bulimic_Fraggle added: “They are both classically trained opera singers, Lionfish just crooned along a bit. Unless it is a massive fake-out.”
As well as Potts, judges have predicted the Lionfish could also be comedian Jack Dee, American actor Lin Manuel Miranda, host Ellen DeGeneres or Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood.
Reflecting on the clues which have been given out so far, the unmasked singer said: “I’ve appeared in places I’ve never been.”
The performer also explained on their VT they started their career late.
The final clue disclosed they defended their “barbs” and only used them “when necessary”.
User maskedoli added their own prediction: “It’s Russell Watson from last years I’m a celeb.”
Reddit user segamad66 simply wrote: “Julian clary” whereas CCFCISPARKS

Julian also became a contender after it was revealed the actor played the Emcee in the Cabaret musical.

Heather Small was first to be exposed after performing as Chandelier in the first episode.
Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford was then unveiled after taking to the stage as Snow Leopard.
