This Morning ITV: Why is This Morning not on?
This Morning: Eamonn and Ruth say goodbye to viewers
This Morning fans may have been disappointed to realise the daytime programme would not be on air today or for the rest of the week in the run-up to Christmas. Why is This Morning not on? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.
Why is This Morning not on?
As per tradition, This Morning will not be on screens this week or the following week of the festive period.
The show will remain off air over the two week break apart from on Christmas Day when This Morning will air its first-ever Christmas special.
This Morning’s Christmas Special will feature “heart-warming surprises, special guests, and of course favourite familiar faces” to celebrate what will be an unusual Christmas for many.
During the last live show ahead of their Christmas break, Holly and Phil hosted a This Morning panto, which saw Holly transform into Cinderalla, Alison Hammond as the Fairy Godmother and Phillip as Buttons.

Panto legend Christopher Biggins played the Dame, and West End icon Sheridan Smith made an appearance as Peter Pan.
Ruth and Eamonn dressed up as Santa Claus and Mrs Claus alongside Joanna Lumley as the wicked stepmother.
The Morning’s agony Aunts Deidre Sanders and Vanessa Feltz made an appearance as the evil step-sisters.
The panto even had some star-studded guests as part of the cast.
Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and Loose Women will also air for the first time this Christmas on ITV.
This Morning will resume its usual schedule on Monday, January 4 at 10am on ITV.
However, things will look a little different in 2021 on the series.
Long-time presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will host the show every Monday to Thursday, a slot they have held since 2009.
Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond will take over on Fridays and Bank Holidays in 2021, replacing Regular hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.

Eamonn and Ruth will still be part of the This Morning family, hosting the show over the school holidays.
Speaking about her new hosting duties, Alison Hammond said: “I never dreamt that when I first joined This Morning – initially for a few months – that I would still be there 19 years later.
“I genuinely care about the show and the viewers who watch, so it’s a huge privilege and honour to be hosting a show I adore so much.
“I’m just really excited to be doing even more of what I love alongside the lovely Dermot.”
Eamonn Holmes shared an emotional post on his Instagram about his final Friday show on This Morning.
Alongside a picture of him and his wife Ruth, Eamonn wrote: ” We bow out of 15 years of our Friday slot on This Morning today.
“Thanks for the memories hope we made some for you too.”
“Until February, may it be a Happy Christmas to you all.”
