This Morning under fire for 'dangerous' debate on whether boys should cry
This Morning has come under fire from viewers after a debate on whether it’s okay for boys to cry.
The topic was introduced by presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield after SAS: Who Dares Wins’ Ant Middleton revealed earlier in the week that he raises his son to have a ‘stiff upper lip’ but is being ‘softer’ with his daughter.
Glenn Slater argued that boys should receive tough love and admitted that he has no happy memories of his relationship with his dad growing up, telling the cameras: ‘It is sad, but it’s made me stronger.
‘It’s made me a stronger person.’
He added: ‘If a boy cries or is seen crying, he’s going to get bullied. I believe you’ve got to protect your children.
‘If a girl cries people don’t take it the same.’
Meanwhile, Vicki Psarias revealed she believes that telling boys they can’t show emotion is ‘really damaging’ and said we need to ‘naturalise crying.’
‘We should support them, not tell them to man up!’
Meanwhile, another raged: ‘This “Should Boys Cry?” debate on This Morning is absolutely ridiculous. Crying is a completely natural, human emotion; it’s 2019 and I find it WILD that it’s still even a topic
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
