This Morning's Alison Hammond apologises after job title blunder with show guest

THIS Morning's Alison Hammond apologised after making an awkward job title blunder with a show guest today.

The 46-year-old star and co-host Dermot O'Leary spoke to Caroline Grills live from Australia to discuss a new ruling that gives cats a curfew Down Under.

Beginning the segment, Alison told viewers: "As Australia begins to ease its lockdowns for humans, another group who has had their movements restricted is cats.

"We're joined now by Bendigo councillor Caroline Grills alongside Doctor Scott, we're gonna kick off with Caroline first."

But as she asked Caroline about the feline lockdown, the guest kicked off the interview: "Firstly, can I just correct you, sorry – I'm not actually a counsellor.

"I'm actually one of the managers, so I'm responsible for the animal management team, I just wanted to make that clear."

Apologetic Alison quickly corrected herself, exclaiming: "You're the big guns! You're the manager – sorry about that, we will get it right now!"

Caroline thankfully saw the funny side, saying that it was all okay as she laughed – before a brief silence as the interview got back on track.

But viewers at home were more distracted by the bizarre segment about cats being forced indoors to protect wildlife in Australia.

One gasped: "Please tell me this is some kind of sick joke..cats curfew in Australia from dusk til dawn wtf".

Another joked: "If I gave my cats a curfew, they'd literally laugh at me and break a window and just go out."

Later on This Morning, chaos ensued after guest Barry Humphries confused Dermot O'Leary for Phillip Schofield – and congratulated him for coming out as gay.
