'Virgin River': What Is the Plot for Season 4?
Based on the book series by Robyn Carr, Netflix‘s drama series Virgin River centers on Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge). Mel relocates to the small town after several traumatic life events. She finds herself falling for Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), a retired Marine who owns the town’s bar.
Though the pair had a whirlwind romance, things haven’t exactly been easy for them. In fact, when Virgin River returns for season 4, we can expect quite a bit of drama in the plot.
When will ‘Virgin River’ Season 4 be released?
Filming for season 4 of Virgin River has just wrapped in Vancouver. The series has already been renewed for season 5. Therefore, we’re going to assume that filming will pick up again in the new year. For fans awaiting season 4, it will likely take at least six months for the new episodes to arrive.
It typically takes quite some time for a series to move through post-production before landing on the streaming service.
What is the plot for ‘Virgin River’ season 4?
The Virgin River Season 3 finale has a slew of bombshells. From Mel’s pregnancy revelation to Charmaine’s (Lauren Hammersley) marriage. There was also Brady’s (Ben Hollingsworth) arrest, and Preacher (Colin Lawrence) being drugged and left for dead in the woods. Season 4 is going to have to answer a ton of questions.
Season 4 is likely to focus on the relationship between Mel and Jack. The bar owner will be dealing with the knowledge that he might not be the father of her unborn child. We’re not certain that Jack is going to take this news well and Breckenridge has even hinted that fans should prepare for a rocky road ahead.
“If it’s not Jack’s baby, Jack and Mel are naturally going to have some tough times ahead,” the actor told E! News via Hello! “It would be immensely difficult. That would be extremely challenging, especially for Jack. If he’s gonna stick around, if he’s devoted to Mel, that’s gonna be hard to have a baby that’s her dead husband’s baby. That’s just, like, asking a lot.”
Additionally, Brie (Zibby Allen) will have to decide if she thinks Brady is guilty of shooting her brother. Hopefully, Charmine (Lauren Hammersley) will give birth to her twins. We’ll get to see if Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Ricky (Grayson Gurnsey) will be able to rekindle their relationship now that he has enlisted in the Marines. Fans will also see the return of Hope (Annette O’Toole) to Virgin River.
Who shot Jack on ‘Virgin River’?
At the end of season 3, Detective Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini), arrested Brady for allegedly shooting Jack in his bar. Though Brady and Jack hadn’t exactly been seeing eye-to-eye, it seems highly unlikely that the former Marine would do something like this. As fans know, Mike and Brady aren’t exactly friends and Mike is clearly hiding something very dark from the people around him.
There has been speculation that Mike had something to do with the shooting and that he chose to pin it on Brady. However, there is also a new rumor swirling that Jack’s best friend Preacher who co-own’s Jack’s Bar and works as the chef may have been the one who pulled the trigger.
One Redditor via Looper is convinced that Preacher shot Jack when he was “sleepwalking with PTSD.” Another fan theorized that Preacher and Mike teamed up to set Brady up and get him out of town.
Thankfully, Virgin River showrunner Sue Tenney has said that all will be revealed in season 4. “The audience will be genuinely surprised at who’s behind all of it,” Tenney told TV Insider. She added, “If we get the actual reveal [in season 4], it would detail more of how this all was intertwined. The webbing of that story goes all the way back to the first season, so it’s a connective tissue that goes through four seasons.”
