Where would Friends characters be today? Cast reveals all

The cast of friends has revealed their dreams of what their iconic characters would be doing today ahead of the anticipated reunion next week.

But before Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green), Courteney Cox (Monica Geller), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay), David Schwimmer (Ross Geller), Matt LeBlanc (Joey Tribbiani) and Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing) reunited for a one-off episode, they had a think about what their characters would be doing right now.

Is Phoebe still singing Smelly Cat in the coffee shop? Did Rachel get back on the plane? And how is Chandler going with his career as a transponster?

Putting their heads together to share their long-held dreams of where their beloved characters would have ended up, should we head back to Central Perk, we have to say we’re not that surprised with what the cast came up with.

According to Jen, Rachel is still working in fashion, which feels like a no-brainer. But others have tickled us, with Matthew’s thoughts on Chandler’s current life warming the coldest of cockles.

Speaking to People magazine this week, Jennifer said: ‘I would like to have maybe started a clothing line of my own, and it’s sort of a small franchise. Like a Nili Lotan. And I live in New York City on the Upper East Side.’

Courteney added: ‘I always just feel like Monica would be doing something competitively with other mothers and trying to outdo them. Whether it’s the bake sale at school or something. I mean, she’d be so annoying. She’d be at the head of the PTA or something.’

Phoebe, according to Lisa, is living in Connecticut with Mike (played by Paul Rudd) and their kids, adding her character would be ‘in charge of the arts program for the school…And just … the advocate for her kids because they’re different like she was’.

In a rather heartwarming move, Matthew believes Chandler would not only be a ‘wonderful father’ to his children with Monica, but also ‘a wonderful comedy writer’, which we can definitely see.

What about Joey? Matt thinks he ‘would have opened a chain of sandwich shops’, but, according to Matthew, he would have also ‘eaten all the sandwiches’.

It doesn’t take a brainiac to know that Joey doesn’t share food…

And while Ross would be ‘playin’ with the bones’ as a paleontologist, he also ‘would’ve invested in Joey’s sandwich shop and lost a lot of his savings for his kids’.

The cast are coming together for the special episode, AKA The One We’ve All Been Waiting For, which will also feature a number of guest stars, such as Justin Bieber, Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai and BTS.

The main players won’t be reprising their iconic roles, but rather chatting about their time on the show – and spilling some inside gossip.

Also joining the main cast will be supporting members including Maggie Wheeler (Janice), James Michael Tyler (Gunther), Reese Witherspoon (Jill) and Tom Selleck (Richard) – however the show has already been called out for its lack of diversity, which ran through the original series.

Friends: The Reunion is released on HBO Max on May 27.
