Who Wants To Be A Millionaire player dubbed ‘wet’ by Jeremy Clarkson for ‘low’ safety net

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: Contestant sets her safety net

Jeremy Clarkson hosted another tense instalment of the ITV quiz show on Sunday night, with six new contestants up to try and get their time on the all-important black chair. One person who got that chance this evening was player Victoria, who was hoping to put some extra money towards her upcoming wedding. However, after deciding to set her safety-net at £16,000, Jeremy called her out for being “wet” and reminded her the old safety-net figure was £32,000.

Tonight’s show saw contestant Dylan Price walk away with a huge £125,000.

And he wasn’t the only one to take home some money as Victoria also managed to get her hands on a healthy sum.

When Victoria had managed to work her way slightly higher up the board, Jeremy decided to recap the situation as it stood with the player.

He said: “Victoria’s at eight thousand pounds, has two life lines remaining, feeling relaxed now?” with the contestant replying: “A little bit.”

“Come on, let’s make you more relaxed by getting those numbers up!” Jeremy remarked.

But when the question of the safety-net came up, the host was left taken aback by the player’s decision.

“Would you like to set your safety net at 16,000?” Jeremy asked with Victoria responding: “Yes please… it’s not an inconsiderable sum.”

“It’s not,” Jeremy noted. “But it’s a bit wet! I mean it was always £32,000 in the olden days.”
