Activists warn dog festival hosted by Chris Packham they will turn up dressed as bloodied birds
A DOG festival due to be hosted by TV’s Chris Packham has been bombarded with hate mail.
The Springwatch host and partner Charlotte were threatened last week after he won a campaign against shooting birds.
Activists have warned Dogstival they will turn up dressed as birds covered in blood.
Chris, who turns 58 today, said: “It’s bullying at its worst and unfair to organisers. If you don’t like what I say, come to me.”
One message read: “Dear Sirs, I am writing to express my utter disgust at your decision to invite Mr.C.Packham to appear at your upcoming festival.
“He has antagonised a lot of country folk with his extreme views and hatred of country pursuits.”
A message on a 'Chris Packham Hate Page' on social media said 'let's bombard the bellend' in reference to the naturalist's guest appearance.
Dogstival’s Richard Nowell hopes to welcome 10,000 guests to the New Forest, Hants, from May 18 including autistic kids who see Chris, who has Asperger’s, “as their hero”.
He said: “We’ve been caught in the crossfire.”
There are no plans to increase security.
