Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen ‘is using her son Reuben’s popularity to bolster her brand as she relaunches TV career after secret five-year affair was exposed’, PR expert claims – as glam shepherdess appears in flurry of his Instagram photos

Our Yorkshire Farm’s Amanda Owen will be counting on her son Reuben’s popularity to help relaunch her TV career following the damaging fallout from her five-year affair, a brand expert said today. 

The Yorkshire Shepherdess, 48, is poised to return to our screens with Reuben and her ex-husband Clive, 68, after they split in June 2022 after 21 years together due to Amanda’s fling with 71-year-old businessman Robert Davies.

She will reportedly feature on Channel 4’s Our Farm Next Door, which will follow Amanda, Clive and their 19-year-old son as they renovate a farmhouse.

Viewers fell in love with Reuben during his regular appearances on Our Yorkshire Farm spin-off show Beyond The Yorkshire Farm. His girlfriend Sarah Dow also featured. 

Today Nick Ede – a brand and culture expert – predicted he would be key to the success of the new C4 show and, over the longer term, to ‘redeeming’ her damaged brand.

‘From a brand point of view her brand isn’t as strong as his following her affair and its aftermath – which of course saw Channel 5 deciding not to renew her show,’ he told MailOnline. 

‘So having him there as a really popular character will help bolster her brand. It could be a start of a new double act – you could see them going on to have their own Gogglebox show.

‘Having her on the show alone probably wouldn’t be successful because she polarises people.  But seeing the interaction between her, Reuben and his girlfriend is what will get the ratings. 

‘She might redeem herself in viewers’ eyes  as this really fun mum who has a great dynamic with her son.

‘I think all eyes will be on the whole family, so this should help rehabilitate Clive as well.’

Our Farm Next Door began production in August and is due to air next year, reports The Sun.

A source close to the family told the newspaper: ‘Amanda’s ego has taken a battering. Her popularity fell off a cliff after the affair was exposed.

‘She knows the only way for her to get back on TV, and for it to be successful, is for Clive to be involved and for them to put up a united front.’ 

MailOnline contacted Amanda’s representatives for a comment.

Reuben is Clive and Amanda Owen’s eldest son and delighted viewers with his farming knowledge as the show followed a new digging business venture he set up with his father.

He has been praised for learning to birth lambs, plough fields and hand-feed cows from a very young age. Beyond The Yorkshire Farm also features his best friend Tom and girlfriend Sarah Dow, whom he has been dating since December 2021.

The Owens have nine children together: Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmie, and Nancy

Amanda and Clive split in 2022. It came after Yasumi Davies, the estranged wife of Amanda’s lover Robert, found a love note she’d sent him and went public. 

The letter read: ‘Robert, life is too short and happiness is too rare. I love you.’

Robert, who has been married five times, is now preparing to divorce Yasumi in the hope of marrying Amanda.

Speaking to The Sun, a source revealed that divorce proceedings have begun.

Speaking on behalf of Yasumi they said: ‘She’s finding it very difficult and stressful. It’s been a terrible 12 months for her and it’s not getting any easier.

‘Robert has moved into a rented property and is pushing to get the legal process sorted.

‘Yasumi suspects he wants to get the divorce done as soon as possible so that he and Amanda can be together.

Amanda’s image of a devoted farmer’s wife and mother was blown apart by the news that she was leading a double life, having an affair with Robert while still being married to her husband of 22 years, Clive, who appears on the show with her.

She and Clive issued a joint statement saying they had made ‘the difficult decision to separate’ when they split in June.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess explained that the couple had succumbed to ‘pressures’ but that they ‘just have to get on with it’.

Talking to the Radio Times she said: ‘Look, there are two simple facts: if he thought I was brilliant, and I thought he was brilliant, then we wouldn’t have separated.

‘It’s a fact, isn’t it? But, you know what, that’s not unique, it’s just how things are, pressures, all the rest of it.

‘But we have nine kids, with associated friends, girlfriends, and we just have to get on with it.’

The couple share children, Raven, 21, Reuben, 19, Miles, 16, Edith, 14, Violet, 12, Sidney, 11, Annas, 9, Clemmy, 7, and six-year-old Nancy.
