Coronavirus Scotland: Scots DIY distiller turns wine into hand sanitiser for family, friends and those in need – The Sun

A WANNABE distiller is cooking up antibacterial hand sanitiser gels in his kitchen — with bottles of unwanted Chardonnay.

Jonny Farley, 47, uses a pot still to extract alcohol from the wine, other cheap plonks and spirits before adding aloe vera and bottling it.

The self-styled booze-making “dabbler” then checks to ensure he has the right concentration to protect against coronavirus.

Jonny, from Bannockburn, Stirlingshire, is now dishing out his concoction to family, friends and those struggling to find sanitiser in supermarkets and online.

The bug-busting hero said: “My wife Audrey was going to the shop last week and asked if there was anything I needed.

"When I said pick up a couple of bottles of hand sanitiser she just laughed and said ‘there’s no chance, nobody has any’.
