Dog ‘skinned alive’ in the street by sick thugs who peeled back its fur ‘like an orange’ – The Sun

A STRAY dog had a miracle escape after being skinned alive and left for dead in the streets.

The pooch, named Rosita by locals, was found horrifically mutilated in front of the home of one of the people who often fed her in the neighbourhood where she lived.

Shocked locals in Rio Cuarto, in the north central Argentinian province of Cordoba, raised the alarm with animal rights activists, who immediately arranged emergency treatment.

They said "the animal was found skinned in front of the house by a neighbour".

Veronica Nuesch, one of the vets treating Rosita, said that she had showed amazing determination to survive the horrific abuse that left her skin "peeled back like an orange".

She described the dog as a "little warrior" and added that she was now clearly on the mend.

Roisita has been given a jumper to keep her warm as she recovers from her ordeal.

Animal rights groups have alerted police about the incident and said there had been several other incidents in which cats and dogs have been either hanged or shot.

But the latest case has partocularly shocked the community and resulted in people queuing up to offer a new home  for Rosita.

Online commentators noted that the case was similar to that of a dog named Chocolate.

The dog – named because of its brown coat –  died three days after being skinned in the city of San Francisco, also in Argentina.
