From 11.59pm this evening, masks will be required indoors in Victoria- except in private homes – for people aged eight and over.

Victoria’s Acting Premier James Merlino made the announcement during a press conference moments ago, saying despite the new restrictions, the state will not be going into lockdown.

Mr Merlino described new measures the government is taking as “common sense, sensible changes in response to the new variant”.
