Mum of pregnant bride who died after 800ft Arthur's Seat plunge hails 'beautiful soul' as husband charged with murder

THE devastated family of a bride who died after falling from Arthur’s Seat days after her wedding have paid tribute to her “beautiful soul”.

Pregnant newlywed bride Fawziyah Javed, 31, was on her honeymoon in Edinburgh on September 2 when she plunged to her death from the 800ft summit.

Her mum Yasmin Javed has now told of her heartbreak at losing her daughter three months on.

She said: “All day I’ve been crying until my tears have run dry, we are devastated, our world has collapsed.

“She was our only child, and she was pregnant with her first child too at the time.

“To lose a child under any circumstances would be painful, but when it’s your only child and your unborn first grandson too, I have no words to describe my pain.
“We will never, ever get over this.

“The light is gone from our lives, we are just existing now, there is no quality of life for us.

“There is a massive void in our lives and we are traumatised without her, the whole family and her friends.

“This has rocked our community.”

Mrs Javed told how she and her husband Mohammed have carried on Fawziyah’s charity work since her death.

Fawziyah worked as a solicitor after graduating from The University of Sheffield and spent much of her free time supporting a wide array of charities, including the InTouch Foundation, Mosaic, Penny Appeal and Citizens Advice Bureau.

To continue her legacy, the family have made donations to St George’s Crypt in Leeds, Edinburgh’s Children’s Hospital, and Social Bite, a Scottish homelessness charity.

Other family members have also given to other organisations anonymously.

The family has also set up a GoFundMe page for donations to continue Fawziyah’s legacy.

It reads: ”Fawziyah was very passionate about helping people that were less advantaged, vulnerable and needy.

“Fawziyah volunteered for many charities and devoted much of her time helping others.

She will be remembered for her kind nature, compassion to help others, being selfless and extremely caring.”

Fawziyah’s husband, Kashif Anwar, 27, has been charged with murder.
