Police hunt gunman after shooting at Riverwood

Police are hunting a gunman after a man was shot at a home in Sydney's west on Wednesday morning.

Police were called to a home on Methuen Parade, Riverwood, at 6.20am after a man had been shot in the leg.

Specialist police have been dispatched to scour southern Sydney to find the gunman.

At least eight NSW Ambulance crews attended the shooting, including a specialist medical team.

The injured man was treated at the scene and taken to Liverpool Hospital.

The shooting is not believed to be gang-related.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
